A training course provider, who have been supplying learning and development solutions for over 30 years, have recently started to deliver open programmes as part of their services.
Birmingham-based RightTrack Learning was founded by Kasmin Cooney in 1988 and today is led by her daughter Claudia and RightTrack’s first ever employee Vicci who, over three decades, have grown together alongside the business.
RightTrack Learning’s usual offering includes designing and delivering tailor-made training solutions to organisations. Whether that be supporting and encouraging the team to be customer service superstars, inclusive leaders or diversity champions.
Over the last year, RightTrack Learning have seen an increase in not only companies wanting to implement equality, diversity and inclusion courses but also individuals talking about these topics.
Of the 1,090 people who responded to their Twitter poll, RightTrack Learning found that less than half were comfortable to talk openly about diversity and inclusion.
Lead Director, Claudia Cooney said “Some people avoid talking about diversity and inclusion for fear of saying the wrong thing and without a doubt, it’s a barrier we must dissolve.
“To change perceptions and dissolve stereotypes we must nurture a culture of curiosity. Open conversations are imperative.
“If we stay in our own bubbles it is virtually impossible to see the world from different perspectives and understand the how we can play a part in helping everyone feel like they belong.
“As we know, when people feel like they belong and have a greater sense of psychological safety, great things happen to engagement, productivity, creativity and profitability.”
The open programmes are aimed at individuals who may be heading up diversity and inclusion in the organisation or would like to educate themselves more on the matter, for just a couple of people from a business, for those who require a refresher or for companies thinking about undertaking training but would like a taster session.
“We take pride in smashing the ‘diversity & inclusion training is boring’ out of the park. Through clever script writing, professional facilitation, and real-life scenarios with actors, we bring the barriers of an inclusive workplace to life.”
The next open programme is Unconscious Bias, a half day session on Monday 21 June. The virtual drama-based workshop, uncovers the meaning of unconscious bias, discovers ways in which perceptions and thinking can be re-frames and explores personal action plans to guard against different types of bias.
A recent delegate on the previous event, Jo Highton, said “It was a really memorable experience and I’ve talked about it so much with my colleagues since – it will really stay with me!”
Marco Ellis echoed this. “It was good at highlighting methods for us to be aware of our short-comings – in terms of prejudice and unconscious bias, and how to make sure we overcome them and not let them overcloud our judgement.”
