LandFlight invests in additional vehicles for its fleet

The new Tourismo coach which LandFlight has just introduced to its fleet

A popular West Midlands travel firm has invested £325,000 in two new low emission vehicles for its fleet.

LandFlight, based in Solihull, has bought a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo coach and a Mercedes V-Class MPV.

The coach comes as part of a £2.3 million investment by LandFlight to upgrade its entire fleet to comply with the latest Euro 6 emission standards.

It joins the other 49-seat Tourismo coaches in LandFlight’s arsenal and has air conditioning, a full leather interior, a hot drinks servery, an on-board WC washroom and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The V-Class, which has been bought in addition to the £2.3 million fleet upgrade, seats seven passengers, has air con, an all-leather interior and the latest low emission engine.

LandFlight director Danny Matthews said: “We are excited to be able to introduce these two new vehicles to our fleet.

“Recently we have been working more with tour companies and this is an area we would like to expand on in the future. The new Tourismo coach will be perfect for the needs of the tour industry.”

A new Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was introduced in London in April which means drivers of larger vehicles, such as coaches and HGVs, have to pay a £100 charge to drive across large parts of inner London unless their vehicles are low emission.

A new Clean Air Zone (CAZ) is also set to be introduced in Birmingham which will mean a £50 charge.

LandFlight’s investment in Euro 6 compliant vehicles means it is exempt from this charge.

Danny added: “We’re proud to be growing our fleet and to be helping make the West Midlands and Birmingham more environmentally friendly in support of the CAZ.

“Many companies who have older, more polluting vehicles will charge customers extra to cover the cost of the new clean air charges.”
