My Best Mood, a digital platform designed to make creativity, storytelling and self-expression feel more accessible and engaging for children, is preparing for its next stage of school engagement and investment growth following recent HMRC SEIS Advance Assurance approval.
Founded by Rose Lord and backed by Innovate UK funding, My Best Mood was created in response to growing concerns around children’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and declining engagement with reading and creative self-expression.
According to the National Literacy Trust, only 1 in 3 children and young people now say they enjoy reading in their free time — the lowest level recorded since 2005.
My Best Mood aims to respond to that challenge differently.
Combining storytelling, journaling, emotionally supportive design and accessibility-led functionality, the platform has been designed to help children engage more confidently with creativity, communication and literacy — particularly those who may struggle with traditional reading experiences, confidence or emotional expression.
Development of the platform’s MVP has already sparked wider conversations around innovation, accessibility and the future of emotionally supportive learning experiences, including invitations into Parliamentary discussions focused on children’s wellbeing and support systems.
Now, the focus is shifting toward real-world impact.
As My Best Mood prepares for wider school engagement and testing, the next phase will explore how emotionally supportive and accessible digital experiences can positively support confidence, creativity and literacy development over time.
“We know confidence sits underneath so much of a child’s ability to engage, communicate and learn,” says founder Rose Lord.
“My Best Mood was created to help children feel safer expressing ideas, emotions and creativity — while making storytelling and literacy feel more accessible, engaging and enjoyable for a new generation.”
The business has also secured HMRC SEIS Advance Assurance as it enters its next stage of strategic growth and investment readiness.
As conversations around children’s confidence, emotional wellbeing, literacy engagement and accessible learning continue to accelerate globally, My Best Mood hopes to play a meaningful role in creating more positive and emotionally supportive experiences for children both in and beyond the classroom.
