A global manufacturing company based in Worcester is the latest to back this summer’s elephant parade in the city.
Southco Manufacturing Ltd has signed-up to sponsor a sculpture for Worcester’s Big Parade art trail – which will take the city by storm for eight weeks from this Monday (12 July).
The company, which also supported the Worcester Stands Tall giraffe trail in 2018, will sponsor one of 30 large elephants in the Wild in Art showcase, being brought to city by St Richard’s Hospice.
Philip Kempson, Managing Director at Southco Manufacturing Ltd, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be playing a part in an event the whole city can look forward to this summer.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to give something back and support the amazing care that St Richard’s provides locally after a challenging time for local charities.”
During the trail, 66 sculptures – beautifully decorated by artists and schools and community groups alike – will bring a riot of colour to Worcester.
Following the trail, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for the specialist care provided to patients living serious progressive illness, their families and the bereaved by St Richard’s.
Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “It’s wonderful to welcome Southco back to the parade following the company’s support in 2018.
“Many of you will remember the team’s giraffe from last time; a beautiful design celebrating diversity which towered over Fort Royal Park. I can reveal that their elephant is incredible too and pays tribute to some very special parade supporters. You’ll have to check it out from this Monday (12th July) to find out more!”
Worcester’s Big Parade is supported by partners Crowngate, Worcester City Council, Worcester Business Improvement District (BID), DRPG, West Midland Safari Park the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
