Owners of a popular B&B and self-catering business near Whittlesey will increase the size of its holiday lets, after securing six-figure funding.

Pete and Anita Boardman, founders of Highfields Holidays, have used a £440,000 funding package from NatWest to purchase and refurbish an existing on-site bungalow into three-bedroom B&B accommodation.

The accommodation will be ready to welcome its first guests in time for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Each of the three en-suite rooms will be finished with premium fixtures and furnishings to offer guests a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Highfields Holidays was first founded in 2009 as a caravan site and has since grown to include furnished holiday cottages which opened in 2015. Pete and Anita also hope to introduce further accommodation to the site by developing lakeside lodges on the 3-acre site.

Customer feedback and reviews place the accommodation in the top 2% of UK holiday home businesses on Booking.com and Highfields Holidays currently holds an outstanding rating of 9.9 on the site.

Pete said: “Seeing our business grow over the past ten years is something we are very proud of and we have always dreamed of adding a B&B to the Highfields Holidays offering. Thanks to the funding from NatWest we have been able to purchase and convert the bungalow into a 3-bedroom B&B. We can’t wait to welcome new and returning guests when we open the new rooms in spring.”

Helen Augsburger, NatWest Relationship Manager, and Christopher Barker, Local Business Banking Director, worked with David Harris, Senior Lending Manager, to support the deal.

Helen said: “Pete and Anita’s passion for giving their guests the best possible experience is obvious to see and the customer reviews are testament to this. The funding we’ve provided has enabled them to expand their business and we look forward to supporting them further in the future.”
