Free meditation app co-founded by practicing monk launched to provide a ‘trusted friend’ for children across the UK

Meditation and mindfulness platform, Samten, has launched a free app for children across the UK to provide them with a ‘trusted friend’ and help them deal with the increasing stresses of modern-day life.

Available to download from Google Play and the Apple App store, Samten Junior delivers easy to follow, traditional and authentic techniques guided by co-founder and expert Buddhist monk, Gelong Thubten, which can be practiced at school and at home.

The app is designed to support healthy emotional development in children, encouraging them to stay in the present moment and helping relieve external pressures.

By meditating for just five to 10 minutes a day, children can feel the benefits of regularly updated content designed to help them reduce stress, increase compassion, improve focus, enhance quality of sleep and become more aware.

Simon Delve, CEO of Samten said: “Innately all of us are hard wired for happiness if we know the right triggers, and children can experience the benefits of mindfulness and meditation just as much as their parents. In fact, those who meditate from an early age are better able to act with awareness and to observe and accept their internal experiences without judging them.

“With mental health across schools in the UK being a priority, we wanted to offer a simple way to promote wellbeing amongst young people, helping to ensure they never feel alone.

“Our free Samten Junior app is the only app of its kind guided by our practicing expert monk who has been widely engaged in education internationally.

“Gelong and I have worked tirelessly to create an accessible platform which will help children deal with the negative thoughts and emotions which often cause anxiety, allowing them to find happiness within.”

Originally founded in 2016, Samten brings mindfulness, meditation and wellbeing into everyday life through smart devices and web applications, with a mission to help change the world “one breath at a time”.

Samten has recently released ‘version 2’ of its app on September 1st which has been five years in the making and promises to deliver an even more positive experience for children and adults around the world with its new teachings & user interface.
