Patent and trade mark attorneys at a prominent city centre firm are keeping their fingers crossed after being named finalists in the prestigious Black Country Chamber Awards.
Forresters in Birmingham has been shortlisted for the professional services award, which focusses on businesses that prove they have great customer service and are leaders in their field.
The Black Country Chamber Awards started six years ago and are now the region’s leading business awards. Professionals from across the West Midlands will be attending the glittering ceremony, which takes place tonight at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
Matthew Shaw is a partner at Forresters and said they are excited to be finalists in the awards. “We pride ourselves on our first rate customer service, which focuses on giving clear, sensible and practical advice to our clients across the world,” he said. “We are proud to work with businesses that are creative and inventive, and with professionals who turn to us to protect their fantastic ideas.”
Forresters has strong ties to the Black Country and appreciates the history and aspirations of the thousands of innovative businesses in the region. Many of the company’s client success stories are Black Country linked, including Fairfax Saddles, Fortress Interlocks, Lowe & Fletcher and East End Foods. Forresters has been a member of the chamber since 2009. They are sponsors of the 2019/20 Black Country International initiative, as well as supporters of the Black Country Business Festival.
Matthew added: “To be named as finalists in the professional services award shows the judges recognise the valuable work we do here at Forresters, advising clients across the Black Country and beyond on how they can protect their valuable business assets.”
From hundreds of applications, a panel of judges have carefully shortlisted a select number of outstanding finalists for each category. Since 2013 more than 160 Black Country individuals and businesses have been recognised for their fantastic achievements across a range of categories. This year the awards have been open to the wider business community, as well as Chamber members.

This year we’ve made a few operational improvements including making it open to everyone to enter and revising some of the categories, so that the awards stay relevant and attractive to the business community. The Chamber is keen to make sure it is representative and supportive not only of its members, but all businesses in the Black Country. I wish Forresters and all the other businesses the best of luck and I look forward to seeing them at our fantastic awards ceremony on Friday.”
