A new retail canopy constructed at Eastfield Garden Centre near Bridlington has proved to be a huge success with customers and the business alike.
The development has enabled the garden centre to improve its customer offer, improving customer flow and creating a new shopping environment in an area where customers were not visiting previously.
The canopy, which business development and town planning specialists Malcolm Scott Consultants designed alongside the team at Eastfield Garden Centre, enabled the business to link the indoor retail areas with the external plant sales area, increasing product range and improve the shopping flow.
Michael Stevenson, Eastfield Garden Centre’s General Manager said “As part of our full site development, this new canopy has opened up an area of the garden centre that wasn’t being utilised as strongly as it could have been , and we have seen an instant impact which our customers have loved.
“Part of the development included developing the existing shop layout to create a clear route through the shop to the new canopy, and we are really focusing on customer flow and turnover opportunities,” Michael added.
“Working with the support of Malcom Scott Consultants, we have created a site layout and plan that has provided us a platform to create a destination garden centre. The new canopy is just one aspect of the garden centres development, with us also improving our warehouse and retail areas. We have a really strong retail area, and our restaurant and coffee shops add value. We want to be a destination of choice for our local community, but also to engage further with the high level of tourism the area sees.”
