East Midlands BDO volunteers go green for charity

Green-fingered colleagues from the East Midlands office of accountancy and advisory firm BDO LLP have helped create a brighter environment at Nottinghamshire Hospice.

A team of ten BDO volunteers worked with the Hospice, BDO East Midlands’ chosen charity for 2019, to complete a full day of garden maintenance including planting and painting its summer house for patients to enjoy.

As part of the day, volunteers, which included partner and head of BDO in the East Midlands Andrew Mair, joined Hospice members for an onsite beginner’s yoga session.

Since the beginning of the year, the BDO office has raised over £1,500 and completed more than 100 hours of volunteering for the Hospice which cares for adults in Nottinghamshire with cancer and other life-limiting or terminal illnesses and provides support for family and carers.

This initiative is supported by the firm’s CSR programme which gives employees ten days a year for volunteering. Individuals are free to choose the focus of their voluntary work whether it be environmental responsibility or charitable fundraising.

Andrew Mair commented: “We’re delighted to continue to make a difference within the East Midlands community, to help further patient experience at the Hospice as well as contribute to the many worthwhile causes around the region. We have a number of committed and kind-hearted volunteers within the office who inspire many throughout the rest of the business.”

The team at the Nottingham office of BDO advises fast-growth privately-owned, private equity-backed and AIM-listed businesses across the region, nationally and internationally with sector expertise in manufacturing, transport and logistics, consumer markets, technology and business services.
