Book lovers are invited to join Bookface for a special Sip & Swap event with bestselling author Sabine Durrant at Bunker on Thursday 17 September from 5.30pm to 8pm.

The popular community event will bring readers together for an evening of book swapping, conversation and literary discussion, with guests given the opportunity to hear from one of the most acclaimed psychological suspense writers.

Sabine Durrant is the Sunday Times bestselling author of seven novels of psychological suspense. Before becoming a full-time novelist, she worked as a journalist and editor for The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The Independent. Her previous novels include Lie With Me, a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller, and Sun Damage, which is currently being adapted for screen by Bad Wolf and Disney.

Set over one blazing Mediterranean summer, Sabine Durrant’s new thriller is intense, claustrophobic and utterly gripping.

Set on Greece’s remote Mani Peninsula, the novel follows former journalist Matt Grimshaw, whose hopes of a peaceful summer writing retreat are disrupted by the arrival of old friends, simmering tensions and a charismatic newcomer whose lavish parties begin to expose dangerous rivalries. As relationships fracture and resentments grow, a shocking death casts a dark shadow over the idyllic setting.

Already receiving praise from some of the biggest names in crime and thriller fiction, Dead Heat has been described by Harlan Coben as “a real scorcher” and by Lisa Jewell as “gloriously dark and wildly engrossing”.

The Bookface Sip & Swap series has become a popular fixture for readers across Scotland, creating opportunities to connect with fellow book lovers, exchange favourite reads and discover new authors in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Guests attending the event are encouraged to bring along two to four books they have enjoyed to swap. Alongside the author discussion, there will be opportunities for networking, book recommendations and informal conversation over drinks.

Tickets and further information are available through Bookface’s social media channels and Eventbrite.
