The author of My Sister’s Keeper will join Scottish readers for an exclusive Bookface afternoon at Barras Art and Design.
Jodi Picoult is coming to Glasgow for a special live event celebrating the publication of her gripping 30th novel, Hollow Bones. The multi-award-winning American author will appear at Barras Art and Design (BAaD) on Saturday 7 November, just two days after the novel is published in the UK.
Picoult has sold 60 million books worldwide and achieved 17 Sunday Times number-one bestsellers. Her novels include My Sister’s Keeper, Nineteen Minutes, Small Great Things, Mad Honey and By Any Other Name.
Hosted by Glasgow-based reading community Bookface, the afternoon will feature a live conversation and audience Q&A exploring Picoult’s writing career, the ideas behind Hollow Bones and the moral questions at the heart of her work. Every ticket includes a hardback copy of Hollow Bones, a glass of fizz or a soft drink and entry to the Bookface sustainable book swap. Guests can bring between two and four books and choose their next reads from hundreds of donated titles.

Set against the lasting impact of 11 September 2001, Hollow Bones explores the risks people take to protect those they love and what happens when a carefully constructed life begins to fall apart.
Molly Fitzgerald was two months old when her mother attended an appointment at the World Trade Center and never came home. Raised with love by her father and stepmother, Molly nevertheless grows up with a deep fear of disaster.
As an adult, she runs the Rhode Island Department of Emergency Preparedness, planning how to save lives during storms, epidemics and plane crashes. She finds comfort with her new husband, Jesse, a police polygraph expert who has his own history of crisis.
But when an unexpected event upends their marriage, Molly and Jesse are forced to question everything they thought they knew.
Moving between past and present, the novel examines the stories people tell themselves, the plans they make to survive their worst moments and the complicated ties between mothers and daughters.
The event takes place at Barras Art and Design, 54 Calton Entry, Glasgow G40 2SB, on Saturday 7 November 2026. Each ticket includes a live interview and audience Q&A with Jodi Picoult, a hardback copy of Hollow Bones, a glass of fizz or a soft drink photos with Jodi and the sustainable book swap.
Guests can bring between two and four books for the swap. Kindle and audiobook readers are equally welcome, and taking part in the swap is optional. Created in Glasgow by broadcaster, publicist and avid reader Heather Suttie in 2020, Bookface is an international online reading community with more than 15,000 members.
Its Bookface Sip & Swap events combine relaxed author conversations, drinks, socialising and sustainable book swaps. More than 85 sold-out events have taken place across Scotland.
