A commercial vehicle distributor has presented a £20,000 charity donation at its site in West Bromwich to help fund projects across the West Midlands that encourage young people to make a positive difference in their community.
Keltruck donated the funds to the Heart of England Community Foundation, a specialist grant-making charity which awards funding to projects across the West Midlands and is the only one of its kind in the region.
The money will go into the Foundation’s #iwill fund, to support youth social action projects helping young people to create positive social change to benefit themselves and the wider community.
The fund has supported activities including campaigning, fundraising and volunteering as well as skills development and creative opportunities.
Keltruck is the largest independent Scania Distributor in Europe and serves the Midlands and South Wales from its 20 operating locations.
The firm was made aware of the Foundation and its work by fellow supporter, Keith Bradshaw, of Listers Group, and wanted to offer its support.
Keltruck chairman Chris Kelly said: “We are pleased to be supporting the good work of the Heart of England Community Foundation. Helping at the grassroots level and focusing on young people was a key driver behind our decision to donate.
“As a community engaged and locally focused company and employer, we’re always keen to help good causes however and wherever we can, either through Charities Aid Foundation donations or benefit in kind help and support.
“We therefore felt that Keltruck and Heart of England Community Foundation would be an ideal partnership.”
Heart of England Community Foundation manages a range of funds on behalf of individuals, companies and trusts in the region and invests the money in grassroots projects, creating thriving communities across the Midlands.
Tina Costello, CEO of the Foundation, said: “We’d like to thank Chris and his team at Keltruck for their extremely generous donation.
“It will help us to support projects which not only impact the lives of young people, but also those in the wider community across the West Midlands.”
“We continually need support to ensure that local communities get the funding they need. Working with us, companies like Keltruck have a perfect way to demonstrate social value.”
