A county car dealership has donated £1,400 in support of hospice care as part of a charity scheme.

PJ Nicholls Ltd – which has dealerships in Malvern, Pershore, Evesham and Tewkesbury – pledged to support St Richard’s Hospice by donating £100 from each new stock car it sold.

The family-run firm selected St Richard’s as its charity of choice, as many members of its workforce have personal connections to the hospice.

Rachel Jones, hospice fundraising manager, said: “We were delighted to be chosen by PJ Nicholls and are grateful for its generous donation towards our care.

“It was great to see customers welcoming the scheme and we are thankful to all involved for their support.

“Thanks to donations such as this, we are able to continue caring for patients, their loved ones and bereaved people across the county. Thank you.”

Alongside the scheme, the team at PJ Nicholls have been helping to raise awareness of the hospice’s services with its customers.

Tom Nicholls, Managing Director at PJ Nicholls, said: “We are proud to support St Richard’s Hospice which provides an important service to our local community.

“As a family business, we are privileged to not only pledge funds towards local charities but also spread their message to our customers.”

St Richard’s Hospice cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days. It also supports their loved ones.

Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,300 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

St Richard’s is an independent charity and relies on donations for three quarters of its annual £8.8m income with the remainder from the NHS.

The hospice is also raising funds for the Build 2020 Appeal and is part way through developing a bigger hospice, enabling more patients and families to be cared for in Worcestershire.  The total cost for expanding and redeveloping the existing building in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, is £5.3m.
