Café Rouge set to serve up New concept in Birmingham city centre

Café Rouge is set to unveil an extensive re-brand of its Bullring-based restaurant this spring. Situated in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the site will be re-launching to the public from 16 March as ‘Rouge’ and is the first site within the Midlands to serve up a refreshed design concept and menu options.

Having welcomed hundreds of thousands of customers for almost two decades, Café Rouge was one of the Bullring’s first-ever restaurant residents and was renowned for serving up classic French dishes. Now undergoing an extensive renovation, the 143-person capacity venue will boast a re-imagined outdoor terrace, ample indoor restaurant and revamped private dining room located on its upper level.

Continuing to celebrate Parisian dining and the best of French cuisine, Executive Chef Bruno Bella has expertly crafted Rouge’s new menu so that guests will be able to enjoy a variety of classic French dishes, reimagined with a modern twist; from Rouge’s cult-favourite scallop starter – baked in garlic and parsley butter with parmesan crumb – to new, vegan-friendly dishes including cauliflower steak with harissa hummus, toasted chickpeas and pomegranate and a Beyond Meat pretzel burger.

Speaking about what Birmingham can expect from the new concept, Steve Worrall – Chief Operating Officer at Rouge – commented:

“We’re seriously thrilled to be opening our newest Rouge restaurant in Birmingham. Since the highly successful launch of first trial site in Haywards Heath last year, we’ve had our eyes on national and Birmingham was the obvious choice for our first Midlands-based opening.

“Rouge will provide its guests with a modern slice of Parisian culture and cuisine: Birmingham is a thriving, cultural hub that is host to one of the best food and drink scenes in the UK, and I can’t wait to see the reaction of both our loyal guests and new customers. We are really proud of what we are bringing to the city and for our longstanding team to be part of the growth of its F&B sector in 2022!”

With General Manager Thamir Abdul Hameed – who has worked within the company for 14 years – at the helm, the Bullring team are extremely proud to be an integral part of Café Rouge’s first rebrand within the West Midlands.

“We cannot wait to bring to Rouge to life in Birmingham: introducing new products such as a signature Champagne cocktail range as well as retaining guest favourites such as the Beef Bourguignon, we’re so excited to be serving up a brand-new menu and experience for our guests.

I’m so proud of our entire team and are confident that they will continue to deliver an incredibly high standard of service and look forward to what the future holds in 2022 and beyond, added Thamir.
