Business community test their knowledge at annual charity quiz

The Burgis & Bullock team at the firm’s 14th annual quiz

Business delegates from across the region put their thinking caps on for a good cause at the 14th annual quiz night held by accountancy firm Burgis & Bullock

The Burgis & Bullock charity quiz, held inside the Clubhouse at the Ricoh Arena, saw more than 150 guests split across 20 teams battle it out over 10 rounds to try and claim top prize, while raising £1,300 for Springfield Mind.

Springfield Mind is a mental-health well-being charity founded 33 years ago which uses education, signposting and promotion to help people living with mental health issues to get the assistance they require.

Over the years, Burgis & Bullock, who have offices in Leamington, Nuneaton, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Rugby & London, have raised thousands for their chosen charity of the year through the quiz, which this year saw teams come together from the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, solicitors Band Hatton Button, the CWLEP Growth Hub and more.

The winning team, the ‘Brindley Twits’ scooped more than 100 points to bring the trophy home on behalf of legal firm Brindley Twist Tafft & James.

Sean Farnell, partner at Burgis & Bullock and quizmaster for the evening, said: “We were very pleased to welcome some of the finest minds from across Coventry and Warwickshire for our quiz.

“As quizmaster I try to keep our guests on their toes with plenty of diverse questions but there were high scores across the board this time.

“This is the 14th year we have held this quiz and it is a real honour for us to be able to welcome a wide range of guests and work together to raise crucial funds for charity.

“Springfield Mind is an incredibly worthy cause and we are proud to be supporting their important work.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended and made the night a huge success.”

A host of prizes were on offer at the evening’s raffle, with £700 of the total raised coming from donations on the evening and £600 coming beforehand.

Jo Min, deputy CEO at Springfield Mind, said: “We are grateful for the support offered to us by Burgis & Bullock, who have generously offered us their support for the second year running.

“The quiz night was a great opportunity for us to spread the word about our work to the local business community.”
