Ahsan said: “It is an exciting time to be joining Burns & McDonnell. I am really interested in distribution automation; how to make the operators more efficient and how to get things back on track when challenges occur. To be able to make a difference it is not just about thinking through solutions, but being able to implement those ideas and bring them to life.  Burns & McDonnell offers clients this holistic approach driving the industry forward. It is great to be part of that growing team.”

Arash said: “Burns & McDonnell has an unparalleled track record working on some truly remarkable infrastructure projects in North America. The UK team understands the complexity of our local client’s challenges and are able to draw on this breadth of knowledge and expertise to provide our customers with bespoke, customer centric solutions.”

The 121 year-old global firm recently announced a record £3 billion in sales and its commitment to hire 1,000 new employees each year.

In 2017, Burns & McDonnell opened its first UK office in Birmingham.  Since then the company has gone from strength-to-strength:

  • In 2018, Burns & McDonnell welcomed the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, to their Birmingham offices to discuss the company’s investment plan for the region. On his visit Mayor Andy Street heard about Burns & McDonnell’s bold plans for growth and creating more jobs, and its long-term investment plan for the UK.
  • Burns & McDonnell was selected by Keele University as the Lead Technical Advisor for Europe’s first Smart Energy Network Demonstrator, a £15 million investment that will support more than 240 jobs in the West Midlands.
  • Together with partners from the Cheshire Energy Hub, Burns & McDonnell secured funding from Innovate UK to develop a concept and design for a local, smart energy system for businesses and consumers centred around Ellesmere Port, in Cheshire.
  • Burns & McDonnell obtained a place on Ofgem’s Technical Consultancy Services Framework.  This places the firm in a strong position to deliver innovative, specialised engineering and technical advisory services to the regulator.

Welcoming the new joiners, Jonathan Chapman, Burns & McDonnell’s UK Managing Director, said: “It has been a fantastic start for Burns & McDonnell operating in the UK.  It’s great to be adding such talented professionals who want to contribute to the industry and build their careers with Burns & McDonnell.  People underpin our success, bring our culture to life and are the sure-fire way to accelerate our plans for growth.  Arash and Ahsan bring with them a wealth of experience in the industry and attributes we look for in employees – enabling us to further expand our offering to clients.”
