Boutique Wetherby law firm named “One to Watch”

A boutique law firm in Wetherby that specialises in personal tax, trusts and probate has been named “one to watch” by a leading guide to the UK’s legal industry.

HTF Legal, which was founded by solicitor Helen Forster, is listed in the latest Legal 500 guide as a firm to watch, following a significant year of growth and success.

The firm has expanded its contentious division over the past 18 months, under the leadership of Head of Contentious Probate and Court of Protection Leighan Banks. This has been a key driver in generating 30% growth in the past year.

HTF Legal has been shortlisted in the Yorkshire Legal Awards and British Wills and Probate Awards 2024 in several categories, demonstrating its prominence both regionally and nationally.

In 2025 the firm will host the second annual Wills and Probate Conference in Leeds for around 200 professionals working in the sector. The event on March 13th has a packed programme of expert speakers on matters of risk and compliance.

Managing Partner Helen Forster, who delivers lectures and training in wills and probate matters to law firms up and down the country and to institutions including Cilex, Solicitors for the Elderly, MBL Seminars, Regional STEP and Women in Wills Conferences, said HTF Legal had invested in developing its position as a centre of excellence in the private client field.

“We are highly focused on “purpose vs profit” and re-invest to grow the firm the right way,” she said.

“We are delighted to have received this recognition from the Legal 500, particularly as it comes at such a pivotal point in our development as a firm when our hard work and investment is putting us on the map as a specialist in our field.”
