It has been announced that Black & Green (the team behind Craft, 8 and About Dining) has made the Michelin Guide. Having only been open 12 weeks this is amazing news for the fine dining neighbourhood restaurant in Barnt Green, Worcestershire which only seats 16 people.
Andrew Sheridan, of Birmingham’s ‘About 8’, is the main man behind the stove at this buzzy, friendly spot, which is like a neighbourhood version of ‘8’ restaurant at the ICC. Luxury ingredients abound on the imaginative set menu, and the chefs are happy to chat to guests.
Supported by his business partner Sam Morgan and Emma Morgan, the new venture has put a spring into the step of About Dining’s portfolio of restaurants. Black symbolises classical and Green sustainable. The food and drink focuses on a modern interpretation of classical European flavours.
The MICHELIN Guide’s inspector called Black & Green “A bijou neighbourhood restaurant with stools set at tall tables and a black and green colour scheme. The short, sensibly priced tasting menu moves with the seasons, using prime ingredients to deliver layers of texture and flavour in imaginative dishes. All guests are served at the same time and most go for the wine pairings. Add in the cheese course for a satisfying meal.”
For November, The Michelin Inspectors’ Favourite New Restaurants shared fifteen new additions to the Guide, ahead of the annual launch ceremony when the Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars will be unveiled.
Andrew has been hailed as one of the most innovative and ambitious young chefs in the country. He rose to attention for his appearance on BBC Two’s Great British Menu in 2018 where he was branded the ‘maverick chef’ for his unusual and creative approach. Andrew and Sam were most recently seen on Come Dine With Me The Professionals on Channel 4.
