‘Beautiful’ memorial services support bereaved West Mids families over festive season

A West Midlands family-run funeral directors, Jennifer Ashe & Son, organised its ‘most beautiful’ and most well-attended memorial services to date at the end of 2023, as it continued its tradition of holding moments to reflect, to commemorate those who have passed away over the last 12 months.

As part of its after-care services for its families, the Willenhall-headquartered funeral director holds celebrations of life throughout the year to mark the passing of those who have departed.

The families of those who lost loved ones and had funerals arranged with Jennifer Ashe & Son are invited to attend, allowing them to come together to share poignant memories during the first holiday season without their departed family member.

Funeral Director, Jimmy Smith, said: “Our memorial services are always well attended and appreciated by our families across the West Midlands and Staffordshire, but last year our December services were our most beautiful and well attended to date.

“The services allow us to bring those who have experienced a loss over the year together, and is another way we offer our support, during what can be a very difficult time for families who have experienced a bereavement.

“We have continued to grow the geographic reach of our services, to a total of five this year across three different sites, and will once again hold memorial services at Easter, following the positive experiences our families have had and the feedback we’ve received.”

The services took place throughout December 2023, at Mercia Forest Crematorium, in Essington, in Willenhall’s St Giles Church of England, and at Cannock Crematorium, in Norton Canes, with a total of five services organised.

For Jimmy, it is all a part of the after-care service that Jennifer Ashe & Son provide for its families: “When people come to us, they are at their hour of greatest need. They require advice and immediate help from us to assist them with funeral arrangements. We ensure that they are informed and given every option when it comes to these arrangements, but we also make sure we check in on the family and their wellbeing.

“Whether it is a visit into one of our branches, or a phone call to have an informal chat, we are always available, day and night, 24/7. Our Dove bereavement group, brings together individuals who are grieving with the aim of helping them to express their grief and emotions in a safe and secure setting.

“We frequently have families who recall the help they received from us, following the passing of their loved one, and it can be a small moment that took place many years ago, but they remember the care and compassion shown to them. And that’s why we do what we do at Jennifer Ashe, for our families and to help get them through their darkest days.”
