Auctioneer appoints Head of Marketing to build ‘go to’ brand

National auctioneer John Pye & Sons Ltd has appointed brand heavy-weight, Joe Macaulay-Yeoman as Head of Marketing to lead its brand strategy development, enhance customer experience and accelerate business growth 

Technology and data-driven marketing expert, Joe Macaulay-Yeoman, joins John Pye after a career working for some of the world’s largest brands Pepsi, Walkers, Tropicana and radio giant, Global Media & Entertainment Group which incorporates Capital, Heart, RadioX, Smooth, LBC, Gold, and ClassicFm.

His most recent role as Marketing and Insights Director Northern Europe for international fashion brands, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, saw him lead a team developing and executing regional tech focussed marketing strategies to drive business growth, brand awareness and revenue across the UK, Ireland and the Nordics.

On his ambitions for John Pye, Joe said: “We want to grow John Pye Auctions into the ‘go to’ brand for anything. I want to get people asking; ‘Have you checked Pye’s for that?’, when they are looking to buy new items.”

“We want to rebuild the customer experience from the ground up and create the most advanced online auction platform for the re-commerce market. I’m responsible for telling the story of the business as it moves into a digital first era, while still being rooted in its history as an independent, family run business with decades of auction experience.”

When asked about why he wanted to join John Pye, Joe added: “I have known the Pye family personally for the last 20 years and I’ve always admired Managing Director Adam’s entrepreneurial approach to the business and his passion to disrupt and lead the auction industry into the future. It was time for a new challenge and joining John Pye Auctions on their ambitious journey gives me the chance to bring that global brand experience to support those goals.”

Leading an eight-strong marketing team at John Pye, Joe aims to build a data driven brand strategy, which creates improvements in customer experience across the whole user journey. To support these ambitions, he will also be responsible for major upgrades to the online auction platform and developing customer friendly apps, to improve the buying experience for its 1million registered bidders.
