AdamsonJones adds to Leicester and Nottingham teams

L-R: Simon Cooper, Michael Constant, Peter Banks and Nic Ferrar

AdamsonJones, the growing East-Midlands based firm of intellectual property (IP) specialists has recently welcomed two new recruits to its Leicester and Nottingham teams.

Peter Banks joins the firm’s Leicester office to train as a patent attorney, working mainly with mechanical, materials and electrical technologies. Peter already has several years’ experience working within the patent profession as an associate patent examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). This primarily involved the searching and examination of patent applications in a variety of engineering fields, including packaging, tools, composites, alloys and 3D printing.

Nic Ferrar, director, said “Peter is a valuable asset to the firm as he brings significant insight into the UK patent application process and the workings of the IPO. His skills and experience  will benefit clients and will enhance our offering to Leicester’s growing engineering and manufacturing sector.”

Michael Constant recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University where he undertook a BA Hons in Business Studies, which included a 3 month internship at the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). Michael works in the Nottingham office as IP administrator assistant, undertaking formalities involved in the application of patents, trade marks and registered designs.

Simon, managing director, said “The continuing expansion of our Nottingham and Leicester offices demonstrates our commitment to supporting innovation across the East Midlands. We are able to manage all types of intellectual property locally across a huge range of industry sectors, which makes us an excellent option for East Midlands businesses.”

Peter and Michael’s appointments round off an exciting year for AdamsonJones, the beginning of which saw the company move into larger offices in Leicester to accommodate its growth in the region. AdamsonJones also received its fourth consecutive ranking in the Legal 500 UK 2019 edition*, with both Nic Ferrar and Simon Cooper recommended for their work in patents, further cementing its position as a leading UK patent firm.
