A Northamptonshire-based asbestos consultancy has carried out asbestos management surveys at Lincoln Cathedral and more than 90 properties within its estate, helping to protect the thousands of people who live, work and visit there.
With a history stretching back to 1072, Lincoln Cathedral has welcomed people for almost a thousand years. Today, it still attracts more than 100,000 visitors annually as a place of worship and a venue for community events.
Acorn Analytical Services carried out the project, which covered the cathedral itself, three associated buildings and a portfolio of approximately 94 properties, over the course of two months.
The contract win followed an initial enquiry through Acorn’s website requesting an asbestos management survey of the cathedral. After responding within hours, the team began discussions that revealed the wider opportunity to support the rest of its property portfolio too.
Drawing on its experience of surveying large estates, Acorn developed an agreed programme with the cathedral team, coordinating access to properties and scheduling visits around residents which involved inspecting buildings for materials that could contain asbestos and recording findings in survey reports to inform future management and maintenance work.
