Sixtowns Waste goes nationwide as it takes on strip out projects to support the construction sector

A growing company forged from an idea to make life easier for Staffordshire home and commercial building owners is now operating across the UK.

Founded by Ben Trickett, of Barlaston,  just three years ago, Sixtowns Waste Ltd is creating work opportunities in areas including waste collection and site preparation. In one of their more recent jobs, the company completed a washroom strip out at a school in Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire.

Entrepreneur Ben said: “While my initial goal was to make work easier for anyone needing to dispose of waste, the business has now evolved into offering strip out and site clearance projects to support builders, architects,  developers, property managers, and building maintenance teams.

“In recent months, we prepared the ground for new outdoor facilities at the Peter Pan Centre, for Children with Special Needs, and in July, we stripped out four toilets at the Cotswolds school.

“This meant we had to provide a works team with enhanced DBS checks so that they could work while the school remained open. It was a significant project for Sixtowns Waste as we had to manage the logistics of working in a school, sourcing a trusted team to work at long distance, and prepare the building for upcoming work. It should prove significant in our growth moving forward”

Ben explained how he evolved from a waste broker to a strip-out contractor. “I previously worked in the pharmaceutical sector, but I wanted to forge my own business and solve problems for others. I started from the premise that there are many companies out there who may provide skips, clear waste, provide labour toclear out buildings and gardens, and more, but there’s not a lot of thought gone in to how to knit together services to ensure work gets carried-out effectively and efficiently.

“I have now run with this idea and expanded it into building strip-outs. There’s much work to do before preparing buildings for development and the main contractor often does not want to do it. Sixtowns Waste clear everything and can take a building back to brick if necessary, creating a clean starting point. We can provide specialist contractors to remove asbestos.

Ben has also worked with North Staffordshire based  Powell Design and Construction to strip out part of a home and remove a conservatory in preparation for major works. Managing Director Alexandra Powell said: “We recently engaged with Ben and the Sixtowns Waste team to carry-out enabling works on a construction project. This included a full strip out, asbestos removal and site clearance.

“The service, from start to finish, was excellent. Sixtowns gave us clear communication throughout, with regular updates, videos, and messages to keep us informed of progress.

“The team was professional, clean, tidy, and methodical. It is clear they take pride in their work and understand the importance of setting up a project from day one.”

Added Alexandra: “The result was a build team that could hit the ground running on day one, with no hidden surprises and no delays waiting for specialist contractors to catch up.”
