World Cup cricket stars heading to Worcester as England Women take on Ireland at New Road

Cricket fans in Worcestershire will have the chance to watch international sport right on their doorstep next month, when the England Women team, featuring stars from this summer’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, take on the Ireland Women team at New Road in Worcester city centre.

The two sides will meet on Sunday 6 September in the third and final Metro Bank One Day International of the series, with play getting underway at 10.30am.

Tickets are on sale now, costing £20 for adults and just £5 for juniors between the ages of three and 17. It means families can watch an England international match right here in Worcester for as little as £5 for younger fans.

Some of the biggest names in the England game are expected at New Road, with eight players from England’s World Cup squad selected for the series. Charlie Dean will captain England, with Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey and Maia Bouchier among the players also heading to Worcester. With so much excitement around the game, it will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

Ashley Giles, CEO at Worcestershire County Cricket Club at New Road, said: “We’re really excited to welcome international cricket back to our historic New Road grounds and give people across the region and the UK the chance to see some of the players they watched in this summer’s World Cup in action.

“There’s always a great atmosphere at these matches and you never know when you might witness a bit of cricket history. With junior tickets at just £5, it’s also a really affordable way for families and young fans to experience international cricket.”

The Worcester fixture is the final match in a three match ODI series between England and Ireland, following games in Leicester on Tuesday 1 September and Derby on Thursday 3 September.

Tickets for the 6 September game are available now from Worcestershire County Cricket Club – https://tickets.wccc.co.uk/selection/event/seat?perfId=10229028950663&ot=0&gtmStepTracking=true.
