A female entrepreneur who is helping companies address mental health and wellbeing, a fledgling creative agency and a funder that has supported 1500 local companies have been named in the last cohort of Bostin’ businesses by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.
Kerry Tonks of Beet Consultancy, True Studio and BCRS Business Loans join MET Recruitment, Thrive Recruitment, Dark Foundry and Motion in Mind as the latest ‘bosters’ aiming to put the region on the national and international map.
The Black Country Food Bank, which distributes enough food to create around half a million meals across Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall every year, becomes the 50th and final organisation in recognition of its support to families in need.
“What a fantastic year we have had celebrating the rich entrepreneurial, business and community talent we have in the region – it really has been truly bostin’!” explained Sarah Moorhouse, CEO of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.
“The final eight take us to 50 ‘bosters’ in total, touching pretty much every village, town and city in our unique area. Our latest cohort features a mix of up-and-coming companies and established names, such as MET Recruitment, who are expanding at pace in Dudley.”
She went on to add: “They all share a passion to contribute positively to the Black Country, whether that is supporting local families, people with specific challenges or creating employment where it is needed most.”
Bostin’ Black Country Business has been created to challenge stereotypes of the region and drive economic performance.
It has unpicked the strengths of the area by championing its most innovative, resilient, creative and globally trading companies and, to date, has received widespread local, national, international and broadcast coverage.
A celebration event for all 50 Bostin’ companies will be held on September 17th at Molineux Stadium, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sarah went on to add: “We wanted to bring all our ‘bosters’ together under one roof and bring the campaign to a fitting finale and that’s exactly what we’re going to do next month in style!”
Halesowen-based Motion in Mind delivers ADHD and neurodivergent coaching to individuals and training to businesses, specialising in coaching senior leaders and owners with ADHD.
Founder Alice Nock concluded: “My business came about following a really dark time in my life and a diagnosis of ADHD. I believe that it doesn’t matter how bad things can get, there’s always something good to come out of it and that resilience, for me, is what defines the Black Country.
“Everyone has been really supportive in my journey and have done lots to help – salt of the earth as they say!”
