Shropshire businesses come together to take on Shrewsbury Half Marathon for Little Stars

Members of staff from a law firm and care company are getting ready to run to raise money for a charity which supports families across Shropshire.

Six runners from Lanyon Bowdler and Komplex will take on the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in aid of Little Stars, with both firms pledging to support the charity in a variety of ways.

Little Stars provides essential items and practical support to babies, children and families in need across Shropshire, and the group visited the charity’s headquarters in Shrewsbury to kick off their fundraising campaign.

The runners – Helen Siegieda, Amy Burgoyne and Isabella Drummond of Lanyon Bowdler, and Taylor Hillman, Alex Paglia and Molly Jones of Komplex – are now preparing to tackle the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on September 27.

Helen Siegieda, of Lanyon Bowdler, said everyone was encouraging their colleagues, clients and friends to support their fundraising efforts.

She said: “Little Stars does a fantastic job supporting families in our local communities, so it’s a charity we are all really pleased to be raising money for.

“Training for a half marathon is certainly a challenge, but knowing the money we raise will be helping such a worthwhile local cause will give us plenty of motivation to keep going.

“We are looking forward to the day itself and hopefully there will be lots of support around the course to get us through those final few miles.”

Taylor Hillman, of Komplex, added: “Meeting the team at Little Stars and hearing about the impact they make on local families was incredibly inspiring. It makes every training session for the Shrewsbury Half Marathon feel even more worthwhile.

“We are proud to be supporting such an incredible local charity and to be taking on this challenge alongside the fantastic team at Lanyon Bowdler.”

Chantal Cassini-Jones, marketing and fundraising coordinator at Little Stars said: “We are so grateful to all the runners for taking on this incredible challenge in aid of Little Stars.

“As a small but growing charity, the support of local businesses like Lanyon Bowdler and Komplex makes a real difference to the families we help across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

“Every mile they run will help us continue providing essential items to babies, children and families when they need it most. We wish them all the very best of luck with their training, and we can’t wait to cheer them on at the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in September.”
