Heel & Toe Children’s Charity is delighted to announce that it has received funding from BBC Children in Need to provide free Sensory Processing block sessions for children with disabilities and complex needs starting in September.
The funding will support free spaces on their 7-week blocks of Sensory Processing therapy sessions for the next 3 years! These sessions are led by Occupational Therapist, Stuart Brown, and will take place at Heel & Toe’s centre in Perkinsville, Chester-Le-Street. The sessions give children, young people and their families access to professional advice, practical strategies and specialist support around sensory processing challenges.
The free Sensory Processing Project is designed to support children with a range of neurodevelopmental conditions and difficulties, including Autism, ADHD, delayed developmental milestones, sensory integration challenges, behavioural and emotional regulation, gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and functional independence.
Through guided therapeutic activities, families will be able to better understand how children process touch, sound, sight, movement, body awareness, taste, smell and internal sensory signals, while learning strategies they can use at home to support development and wellbeing.
Occupational Therapist Stuart Brown, from Heel & Toe Children’s Charity, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this funding from BBC Children in Need. It means we can offer free Sensory Processing sessions to children and families who may otherwise struggle to access this specialist support. These sessions will provide practical advice, professional input, and a safe, supportive environment where children can build confidence and families can take away useful strategies for everyday life.”
