‘Stafford employers are investing in building a skilled, thriving workforce, which will drive future growth and success in our town’ – an MP has said while visiting a business in the town.
Labour MP for Stafford, Ecceshall and the villages Leigh Ingham visited Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) company PTS Group on Common Road Industrial Estate last week to get an insight into the culture and roles available at the company.
The visit was arranged after the MP, a member of the government’s Business and Trade Select Committee, was impressed by PTS Groups’ investment into staff welfare, following reports of a £250,000 investment in facilities at their headquarters.
Leigh said: “It is great to be able to visit a company which is operating all over the world from their base in Stafford, and to see a family firm in this town providing such a vital service to engineering, construction, and many more industries.
“It shows just some of the exciting roles there are in Stafford, and that people who live here do not have to commute to London, Manchester or Birmingham to get a good job. The directors shared that 99% of employees at PTS Group are from a 15 mile radius – that is something to celebrate.
“The company is a brilliant example of how Stafford employers are investing in building a skilled, thriving workforce, which will drive future growth and success in our town.
“I use all the knowledge I gain from visiting great local businesses like this one to help fight their corner in Parliament as well as to feed into my own work on the Business and Trade Select Committee.”
The visit was part of a local business engagement campaign, whereby the MP is visiting many businesses in the area in order to better scrutinise government legislation on their behalf.
PTS Group was started by Technical Director Steve Baldwin’s dad in 1995 and is currently experiencing a period of growth, doubling their workforce to cope with demand.
The company provides checks such as Ultrasonic testing (UT), Magnetic particle testing (MPT) and Eddy current testing (ECT) and much more for businesses from their Stafford base as well as working on sites across the UK in France, Germany, Belgium, and Bahrain.
