Mantle Space, the largest flexible workspace operator in Cambridge with eight sites across the East of England, is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Palmes as its new Finance Controller, marking another significant step in the company’s strategic expansion and the second senior hire of the year. This follows the appointment of Alexandra Livesey as fractional MD, further strengthening Mantle Space’s leadership team as it continues to scale.
Palmes joins Mantle Space with extensive experience in financial leadership and audit. He has spent over six years at Redevco, where he progressed from Business Controller to his current role as Financial Controller, bringing deep expertise in financial oversight, stakeholder management, and commercial governance.
In his new role at Mantle Space, Matthew will work closely with Kay Chaplin, CFO, contributing to financial strategy and supporting the company’s mission to deliver best‑in‑class serviced offices and flexible workspace solutions across the south east of England. Mantle Space’s senior management team continues to play a central role in driving big city quality within regional markets.
“We are pleased to welcome Matthew to Mantle Space,” said CEO, Guy Baker. “As the flex industry continues to evolve rapidly, his breadth of real estate financial experience and his strategic, future–focused mindset will play a pivotal role in shaping our next phase of growth.”
Palmes adds, “Flexible space is such an exciting and fast‑moving industry, and it’s a real privilege to step into this role at a time when Mantle Space is growing so strongly. What drew me in is how genuinely the team cares about creating the best possible experience for their customers. It’s a pivotal moment for the business, and I’m delighted to be part of a team that’s so committed to doing things the right way as we evolve.”
The appointment underscores Mantle Space’s continued evolution as it invests in leadership talent to support its expanding portfolio and long‑term development.
