A leading firm of IT and cyber security specialists in the East Midlands has added to its talented team by recruiting a new apprentice.
Twenty-three year old Jamie Beecroft has joined Nottinghamshire-based Your IT Department as an apprentice service desk engineer. Around a third of the award-winning company’s workforce has come through the apprenticeship route.
Jamie has been interested in technology and gaming since he was a boy and has even built his own computer. He decided an apprenticeship would be ideal to develop his skills, combining on-the-job training with academic work.
“It’s a really supportive environment here and I’m enjoying the whole experience,” said Jamie. “It’s great to deal directly with customers and help them find the right solutions for their particular issues.”
Apprentices at Your IT Department are supported by the company’s in-house ‘Your IT Academy,’ which provides training and development opportunities for all employees, while also offering them financial incentives to develop their skills and knowledge.
Jamie, who lives in the Brinsley area of Nottinghamshire, is the second apprentice to be recruited by the Eastwood-based company this year. He was keen to join a local business, having gone to school in nearby Selston and studied for A-Levels at Bilborough College.
The company’s Head of People Development, Sam Hewson, said it is important to encourage all the firm’s apprentices to develop their careers.
“We’re very pleased to welcome Jamie to the team,” said Sam. “Our vision is to nurture and develop our apprentices and give them the individual support they need in order to flourish.”
Your IT Department has won several awards in recent years and provides managed IT services to more than 100 businesses across the UK.
