KEMP Hospice is very pleased to welcome Geoff Taylor-Smith as new Chair of Trustees. Geoff brings a wealth of experience from the statutory and voluntary and community sectors and is committed to supporting KEMP Hospice as the Wyre Forest Hospice.
After initially training as a secondary school teacher, Geoff enjoyed a successful teaching career before moving into local government. Geoff says that, “I spent time as Deputy Director of Education and Children’s Services with a number of West Midlands local authorities. I left local Government in 2010 and began working in the voluntary and community sector as Head of Children and Families at Worcestershire YMCA from where I retired in 2020.” Much of Geoff’s work involved delivering activities designed to improve the lives of children and young people including counselling and mental health services.
Geoff says, “Since joining KEMP Hospice as a trustee I have been impressed with the commitment and hard work of its volunteers and staff. As Chair, my intention is to improve the quality of life for patients by ensuring that the services they access at KEMP are the best that they can be. I will support the continued growth of KEMP and ensure that our services remain high quality and accessible to everyone within the Wyre Forest who needs them”.
Chief Executive Officer, Heidi Hawkins said, “We are thrilled to have Geoff join us as Chair of Trustees. His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will be such a great asset to KEMP Hospice. Our Board of Trustees play an integral role in the way KEMP is run, ensuring that we fulfil our charitable purpose at all times and that we remain sustainable and financially viable to continue to provide our vital ongoing support to the Wyre Forest.”
