Local primary schools and clubs are dashing to sign up to KEMP’s Rudolph Run to support hospice care this December

KEMP Fundraiser Coralie Hudson and Volunteer Mandy Spencer get ready to visit local schools

The festive word is spreading that KEMP Hospice is inviting local schools and clubs to have some fun this December and host a sponsored Rudolph Run as part of the local charity’s first ever event of this kind.

Each school or club can choose the date, distance, and location such as the playground, school hall, field or local park and every child participant registered will receive free special Rudolph antlers and a red nose to wear in time for the event and keep.

The Wyre Forest hospice hopes to raise a significant amount in sponsorship to support KEMP’s free essential care and support of local families and their carers experiencing life-limiting conditions and bereavement this Christmas and beyond.

Coralie Hudson, Fundraiser at KEMP Hospice, said: “We are ecstatic about how popular our Rudolph Run is becoming! We have already visited many local schools with shiny red sample packs containing antlers and red noses, with lots of positive comments from pupils and teachers and schools signing up – we wouldn’t’ be surprised if we see over 2000 little Rudolphs this December!  One headteacher told me “You look after our school, so we’ll look after you.” It really is a wonderful feeling that support from KEMP makes such a difference to the children in our community and equally that they want to give something back.”

Local schools and clubs, such as cubs and brownies, can hold their events as everyone’s favourite reindeer however they choose and the local hospice are already excited about many creative plans such as a relay race around the school gym and a local lights walk and run. Wyre Forest 8 Beavers have already pledged their support alongside Little Trinity Nursery, as well as St John’s, Offmore, St Ambrose Catholic, Wolverley Sebright, Stourport and Far Forest Primary Schools.

For more information and to take part, schools and clubs need to register by Friday 19th November at www.kemphospice.org.uk/rudolphrun. Numbers are limited, so it is advised to book early.
