What an inspiring story! Prestige gym equipment retailer of year Recharge Fitness found young personal trainer Eddie online. Picture the scene; he’s a 20 something lad, training in a barn yard, machine cogs, rusty wheels, spare logs. A UK health and safety nightmare is a way of providing focus and a better life in Tanzania. Eddie trains over 50 young men and women on the outskirts of Dar Es Salam, in a very rural part of Tanzania, Africa.
What he lacked in equipment, he made up for in enthusiasm and passion, on his quest to create a healthier village, to steer youth away from poor decisions and instead focusing them and challenging them with fitness. This echos Recharges own motto, which is making a ‘positive impact to create a healthier nation’ – or in this case, world! Having found Eddie online, and having been inspired by his ‘raw’ workout videos, they made contact and arranged for thousands of pounds worth of gym equipment to be send to Tanzania, no mean feat when you consider that locals in Tanzania don’t have addresses or postcodes.
The gym equipment container arrived in August after multiple ship changes, countries visited, one piracy attempt and an 8 week journey! Eddie and his trainers could not be happier with their gym based goodies; barbells, bumper plates, dumbbells, benches, clothing and much more. It will have a huge impact on the local community.
“As a community we really appreciate your donation it makes such a huge different on our gym activities and ease on our mental health. Recharge donation is a massive help for us and the community needs, we never Dream to have this kind of equipment and gym wear that helps a lot we can’t thank you enough.”
