You have managed to get your startup business launched and are working hard day and night to ensure that it is successful. We know that feeling, we understand how determined you are, which is why today we want to share with you 5 invaluable tips for start-up businesses.

Expand when the time is right
Taking that next step and expanding your business can be daunting. It is easy to hesitate when you are confronted with the possibility, but that hesitation could end up losing you money so you should expand when the time is right.
You knew that it was the right time to start your business, so you need to trust in yourself that you know when the time is right to expand your business. If you feel that you have hit a ceiling and can only do so much, but you can see more potential and have customers asking for more, you need to grow.
This might involve further investment, new premises or more members of staff. You need to review and weigh up the costs involved and then work out your projections around potential increased business. You can then take the leap and maximise your business’ potential.
Build the best possible team around you
If you are moving on from working alone, you need to ensure that you build the best possible team around you.
Your team will be at the core of your business, so do not rush the recruitment process. You want to hire the best people that you possibly can and you want to ensure that they will fit in well with your business, you and your team.
Once you have hired your team, you need to spend time training them so that they are competent in their roles and confident to carry out their work independently. Training is an ongoing process, so always be there to help them to further upskill and to offer encouragement and coaching regularly.
You want a loyal, motivated and able team around you, so involve them in decisions, communicate openly with them and praise and celebrate with them.
Manage your time effectively
There are only so many hours in a day. You cannot get any more, so you need to use what you have well and manage your time effectively.
The first thing that you should do is have a clear set of goals. These should be longer term and then broken down into weekly and daily goals. This will enable you to focus on what is important each day and should make prioritizing your tasks an easy job.
You then need to focus on delegating confidently. You might spend an hour with a member of your team showing them how to do something that you do regularly and can then comfortably assign to them.
When you are delegating you need to accept that people might not always be able to deliver to your standards, but you are only one person and you need to work out where you are willing to compromise in order to get more done.
Make cutbacks wisely
Whilst you are right to always be looking for ways to reduce your business’ costs, you should make cutbacks wisely. You need to be careful that you are making the reductions in the right places and are not compromising your business.
For example, if your business relies on regular postage to australia you are going to want to ensure that you can get the postage at the best possible price, but crucially, without compromising on your service. There is no point in opting for the cheapest company out there if they fail to deliver effectively for you all of the time as your sales and reputation will then take a significant hit.
Give yourself a break
This is probably the toughest point to fulfil on this list for startup business owners. You are going to be driven and determined and you are getting where you want to be through working hard and working long hours. But you must ensure that you give yourself a break from time to time so that you can keep giving it your all.
From time to time, switch off early for the day and go and do something to wind down. Make a point of arranging to meet a friend at lunch so that you do actually take a lunch break for a change. Have an early night a few times this week so that you can wake up refreshed and ready for another day.
It can be very easy to burn yourself out when you work for yourself. Do not forget to give yourself a break once in a while.
