March 28th 2020 will see people from all over the region running, skipping, hopping and jumping in support of local charity Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. The Colour Run, being held at the Greenhous West Mid Showground, is a fun, non-competitive 5km colour run with participants running through clouds of colourful paint round a safe, off-road course. This will be the second year of the event, and follows the great success of 2019’s run, in which over £12,000 for the charity. This is the only colour run to take place in Shrewsbury town centre this year!
A number of local businesses have already put forward their teams for the run, and are training hard to be ready for the big event. Lingen Davies would love to see more business teams taking up the challenge- it’s a great way to encourage your team to get fitter and train together.
Encouraging healthy exercise in your employees can improve morale and positive attitudes, while reducing stress and absenteeism. You don’t need to invest in gym memberships or yoga classes for your team; how about just starting with a lunchtime group walk or jog and work your way up to the 5km distance?
Entry to the Colour Run is £20 per adult, and £7 per child. Entry fees include a pair of sunglasses and a white tshirt to get covered in paint on the day. The first 100 adult entries will be sold at the early bird rate of £15- these are selling fast so get signed up now!
The course is entirely off-road and there is ample car parking on site. Participants are also asked to raise some sponsorship money to support Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. Lingen Davies exists to make a positive difference to lives affected by cancer in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Money raised from the event will go towards projects in three key areas of work; cancer prevention and early diagnosis, excellent treatment delivered locally, and living well with and beyond cancer.
