Kat & Co Aesthetics launches super-clinic in Birmingham

Award-winning Kat & Co Aesthetics has opened a new, bespoke super-clinic in Birmingham, with a newly expanded team headed by consultant doctors who are experts in their field.

The four-storey clinic, in Edgbaston, now comprises five consulting rooms, dedicated laser room, intravenous therapy area, operating theatre, recovery room and day-case room.

Launched by consultant plastic surgeon Mrs Chien C Kat in 2010, the clinic is already firmly established as the leading cosmetic and reconstructive surgery clinic in the country.

Now with a team of three consultant surgeons – including a consultant obstetrician gynaecologist, a former GP, a hair transplant therapist, an aesthetic nurse, and two skin therapists – it offers more treatments and therapies than ever before.

These include a vast array of surgical procedures, such as the two-stitch mini facial lift and award-winning ‘lock and glue tummy tuck’, both of which were created by Mrs Kat, to a number of non-surgical options, including intravenous nutrient therapies, dermal fillers and hydrafacials.

The clinic, which is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), has been listed two consecutive years in Tatler’s Beauty and Cosmetic Surgery Guide – the cosmetic surgery power list – for its body contouring surgery in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Mrs Kat said the new clinic enables her team of clinicians and therapists to offer the best care in state-of-the-art surroundings.

“We see thousands of patients every year and have a reputation for our meticulous approach in everything we do, providing the full spectrum of therapies and treatments, from non-surgical to surgical,” she said. “Having in place such an expert, dedicated team means we can work cohesively, ensuring our patients are cared for in a holistic way, from the moment they make their first enquiry.

“The practice has grown considerably since we first opened nine years ago and we’re excited to unveil our new super-clinic, which provides state-of-the-art treatment rooms and a superb operating theatre. It’s bigger and better than our previous home and it is incredibly satisfying to be able to refer our patients to another member of the specialist team, if we believe they would benefit from an alternative therapy or treatment. It’s about offering the best option for them.”

The clinic now has the services of leading gynaecologist Miss Poonam Pradhan, who has been an NHS consultant since 2004. She provides general obstetrics and gynaecology consultations and is the clinic’s expert in vaginal rejuvenation using FDA-approved ThermiVa – a revolutionary non-invasive technology that helps women who suffer from vaginal laxity after childbirth.

“I’m thrilled to have joined Kat & Co Aesthetics, offering specialist gynaecological consultancy and a suite of treatments, including the ThermiVa, which is not yet available on the NHS,” she said.

“I’ve known CC Kat for many years and when we spoke about this new treatment, she was immediately impressed with the benefits it provides women and was keen to introduce it to the clinic. Being part of the team means we can offer a broader gynaecological consultancy and provide a wide range of therapies.”

Cosmetic doctor Dr Ana Mansouri, a former GP, has also joined the team and offers a range of aesthetic procedures, including skin care, non-invasive body contouring, Botox and skin tightening. She also has a special interest in dietetics and provides nutritional and weight management advice, as well as intravenous nutrition therapy.

“As a doctor, my overriding concern is patient safety and acting in the best interests of the patient, which is why I wanted to join Kat & Co Aesthetics,” she said. “I feel passionately that as a practitioner, it is my job is to help a person look well rested and refreshed, whether that is through nutrition, weight and lifestyle advice to advising on non-surgical options.”

Clinical nurse specialist Natasha Rankin has worked with Mrs Kat for more than 10 years – first in the NHS where she was a Sister in charge of plastic surgery in operating theatres before joining the clinic in 2008. The cosmetic specialist undertakes a wide range of non-surgical procedures, including dermal fillers, sclerotherapy injections to improve the appearance of thread veins, and Obagi Blue Skin Peel.

“We’re a small team and it feels like family,” she said. “What appeals to me most about working in the clinic is the empathetic approach we adopt. We’re not here to push treatments on to people if we don’t believe they will work or are not appropriate. We work closely as a team and as a nurse, I want to help people and I’m focused on providing services that will make them feel better. The new clinic is amazing and I’m looking forward to welcoming patients old and new.”

The senior team also comprises Dr Hawk Kat, who provides weight management counselling, laser treatment and anti-wrinkle treatments; Dr Camilio Diaz, a consultant dermatologist who is the one of the few hair transplant surgeons in the UK to have trained in the USA with some of top hair surgeons in the world and offers follicular unit transplants and follicular unit extraction; and Jaysheela Mudhera, a consultant who specialises in breast surgery and body contouring procedures.
