Birmingham’s small business community is set to toast the launch of a new series of free digital workshops and sessions aimed at improving the productivity of city firms in 2019.
Hosted by O2 and small business support network Enterprise Nation, the regular monthly gatherings will be launched at an exclusive event on Wednesday December 19 at O2’s store in New Street.
The series was devised to tackle the stark findings* that more than half of the region’s SMEs lack the basic digital skills needed to drive growth, and that improving these could unlock an additional £85 billion in turnover. The series will cover everything from building a website to SEO, social media and digital marketing as well as featuring top tips and advice from leading business experts. The full schedule will be revealed at the 19th December launch event.
Gareth Turpin, Director of Sales at O2 said: “Birmingham is home to a thriving small business community. We’re delighted to be able to offer these easy to access, free and bite sized sessions to businesses, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting and investing in the West Midlands. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks.”
Emma Jones, Founder of Enterprise Nation, said: “Having a strong online presence is vital for firms looking for growth and sustainability. And yet it is still perceived to be a big problem that’s difficult to approach and overcome.
“These workshops and meet-ups are about laying the digital foundations for growth through regular instruction and opportunities for supervised problem-solving to help the city’s firms reach their digital ambition.
“We’re delighted these sessions will be free, all they require is time and a willingness to absorb technology.”
