Churnet Valley Railway and Nelson’s Gin putting Staffordshire on the map

Two Staffordshire businesses are helping to put the county on the map, with Churnet Valley Railway and Nelson’s Gin Distillery and Gin School having signed with the same northern-based PR firm.

Travel, leisure and hospitality experts Three Little Birds PR have been appointed by both companies to manage their PR efforts and raise their profiles to gain recognition across the UK.

Churnet Valley Railway runs steam and diesel engines on a picturesque rural railway in the part of Staffordshire often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland’. Headquartered at their Kingsley & Froghall station, the company formed in 1992 and opened its first passenger service between Leekbrook, Cheddleton and Consall in 1998. Their nostalgic train rides are available with a variety of dining options, including afternoon teas, and they run special events including Santa & Steaqm on selected dates in December.

We were looking for a hands-on PR agency to become part of the Churnet Valley Railway family,”  said Operations Director Gregory Wilson. “We are confident that Three Little Birds PR will strategically raise the brand’s media profile to support revenue and traffic growth targets.”

Nelson’s Gin Distillery was launched by ex-chef Neil Harrison in 2014 and has grown impressively over the past few years. Located just outside Uttoxeter, it hosts one of the country’s few Gin Schools where visitors can learn about the distilling process and botanical ingredients to create a bottle of their own unique gin. The smooth-tasting Nelson’s Gin is comes in several different strengths and flavours, including the classic No. 7 (42.5%), Navy Strength (57%), and the award-winning Rhubarb and Custard (41%). The company are soon to launch their new world exclusive gin, the first official gin produced with this mystery flavour.

“We worked with Three Little Birds PR on an event and they demonstrated how valuable they could be,” said Sales and Marketing Director Greg Kimber. “It should be a highly beneficial partnership that will take our products and the fun, informal Gin School to a wider audience.”
