14 adi Group employees are taking on some of the UK’s highest mountains within 24 hours for national heart charity, Heart Research UK.

The team from the engineering company in Birmingham will climb the famous landmarks Scafell Pike in England, Ben Nevis in Scotland and Snowdon in Wales, known as the Three Peaks Challenge.

The challenge will begin on Friday 22 June and will see the team of employees climb a combined total ascent of 3064 metres or 10,052 feet.

adi Group have raised over £20,000 in just three years for Heart Research UK, which funds research and community projects in the Midlands and across the country.

Ritchie Webb, Managing Director of adi’s Automotive Services division and event organiser said: “We’re very much looking forward to helping hearts by taking on the Three Peaks Challenge. Our team has been training hard since January and have fully embraced the challenge by taking part in numerous trial runs at Snowdon and The Malvern Hills to build fitness.”

Barbara Harpham, Chief Executive at Heart Research UK said: “adi Group has brilliantly raised so much money for us over the years through football tournaments and marathons. This challenge really is the pinnacle though! Good luck to everyone taking it on – we’ll be rooting for you all.”

The adi Group employees taking on the Three Peaks Challenge include Ritchie Webb, Suzanne Burton, David Barnes, Lee Price, Brian Imrie, Simon Cleaver, Duncan Honeysett, Shaun Johnson, Stuart Anderson, Claire Rowley, Steve Emery, Jordan McMillan, Sam Scott and Charles Baker.

Heart Research UK recently raised money for a revolutionary organ care system called ‘heart in a box’. The ground-breaking system, now at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, keeps a donor heart beating and warm outside the body, potentially allowing surgeons to carry out up to 50% more heart transplants every year.
