New openings bring award winning town alive after five

Sutton Coldfield is alive after five with a flurry of new additions expanding the Royal Town’s vibrant entertainment and nightlife scene.

Having been Purple Flag accredited for two years, the town centre is a real flourishing alive after five opportunity for businesses looking for a destination to open their business.

Foodies are spoilt for choice following several openings in the Restaurant Quarter, with Mexican restaurant and bar, Bodega Cantina, Spanish tapas eatery, Sangria, and Craft Inn beer shop and bar among the latest additions to the diverse offering along Birmingham Road.

Already proving popular among locals, Bodega Cantina brings the authentic flavours of South America to Sutton Coldfield. Diners can feast on a fresh menu of signature dishes including burritos, quesadillas and tacos, as well as a wide variety of vegan options and light bites.

The new venue, which is larger than Bodega Cantina’s flagship Bitter’N’Twisted restaurant in Birmingham, features a 77 cover dining space with brightly decorated interiors and a large bar area, with an extensive list of tequilas, cocktails and mocktails available.

Sangria, which opened last month, offers guests a taste of the Mediterranean with a selection of traditional, home-cooked tapas, paella, steaks and seafood dishes. The restaurant also boasts three types of homemade sangria, red, white and sparkling.

For those in search of a tipple, the newly opened Craft Inn beer shop and bar offers a huge variety of hops in bottles, cans and growlers, as well as a 24-seater area for guests to sample their favourite beers, gins and prosecco.

In another addition to the district’s entertainment and nightlife offering, the popular pizzeria Pizza Express has also launched a weekly live music evening taking place every Thursday.

For those looking for a more active way to spend their evenings, the recently opened branch of The Gym is open 24 hours a day, with membership starting from as little as £10.99 a month and an energetic calendar of free classes.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID manager, said: “In recent months we have welcomed some fantastic new venues to Sutton Coldfield’s already vibrant social scene, which is evident from achieving Purple Flag status over the past two years.

“With such a diverse offering of destinations on offer, locals can choose from a wide variety of quality destinations, whether it is a three-course meal, drinks with friends, or even an evening workout.”

The new openings join the likes of Indian street food seller, Bhaijaans, microbrewery Brewhouse & Kitchen, and retro gaming bar LVL:1.

The Restaurant Quarter is an initiative pioneered by the Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) launched in June 2014 to help promote and establish Sutton as a diverse dining destination.
