With the clocks springing forward, a Parkinson’s UK Local Adviser from Warwickshire and celebrity baker Jane Asher are calling on people across Warwickshire to look forward to summer and plan a Garden Gathering to raise vital funds for the charity Parkinson’s UK.

Garden Gathering is an exciting feel good fundraiser that encourages family and friends across the country to host gatherings in their gardens or favourite outdoor spaces.

Parkinson’s UK is the leading charity driving better care, treatments and quality of life for those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.

Lisa Turley, Parkinson’s UK Local Advisor for Warwickshire who gives a range of support and advise to all those affected by Parkinson’s comments:

“Whether you host a BBQ with beer, or an afternoon tea with pink lemonade and a playlist, this is a unique way to make a real difference to the 1,311 people living with Parkinson’s in Warwickshire.

“The fantastic thing about Garden Gathering is that people can be as creative as they like to really personalise their event.

Jane Asher, President at Parkinson’s UK, whose brother-in-law Gordon Scarfe is living with condition said:

“Garden Gathering is the perfect opportunity to bring together friends and family, while raising vital funds to take us closer to a cure and support everyone affected by Parkinson’s. I know first-hand how deeply it can impact not only the person living with the condition but also their loved ones.

Now that the days are beginning to get a little lighter and warmer, it’s time to look forward to planning summer activities. Organising your own Garden Gathering means you can be as creative as you like. We’re looking forward to seeing what events people come up with, and hope that everyone in the Warwickshire gets behind us by hosting or joining a Garden Gathering to make it a huge success. You can also find a special recipe from me in the fundraising pack.”

Sarah Wakeman, Regional Fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK in the South Midlands says: “Garden Gathering 2018 is set to be a really social summer event.  All money raised will support the 6,200 people affected by Parkinson’s across the South Midlands as well as funding for better treatments and ultimately a cure.

By signing up to Garden Gathering you will receive a fundraising pack filled to the brim with ideas for your event”
