Walsall printers celebrates 20 years in business

A Walsall based printer is celebrating its 20th anniversary by revealing a new visual identity and announcing its support for a local hospice.

NEC Graph-fix, which was founded in 1996 by brothers Tim and Lee James, began life on Fryers Road in Walsall before moving to the site of the National Exhibition Centre in 1999, from where the NEC Graph-fix name originated.

After four years at the NEC site, the business moved back to its original Walsall premises, winning its first national account when outdoor media company Primesight joined its client roster, and now employs 32 full-time staff.

The company will celebrate its 20th anniversary by providing bespoke banners for fundraising and community engagement events to St Giles Hospice, which provides care for people with illnesses that may not be curable across Walsall and Staffordshire. It has also unveiled a new visual brand identity designed to reflect the changing nature of its business.

Tim James, managing director of NEC Graph-fix, said: “The anniversary is an important milestone for the business, not least because it has thrived amidst a rapidly changing print environment.

“Huge strides in technology have brought about the evolution of digital print, wide format print and a speed and quality of print that would have been unfathomable twenty years ago.

“We have embraced these changes and are always looking to invest in new technology and products, with our service offering now including outdoor, Point of Sale, Free Standing Display Units and Dyesub printing.

“We decided to mark our anniversary by providing bespoke banners to St Giles Hospice because it’s a charity that’s close to our hearts. Family members of the owners of the business and that of several of our team members have all received care there.

“As well as being an opportunity to give something back to the local community, the anniversary provided the perfect opportunity to take stock and decide how we wish to project our business over the next 20 years.

“The new-look logo has been designed to better reflect the wide variety of work we now undertake, as well as the multi-tasking nature of our industry. With the octopus being famous for its ink, it was the logical choice for our business.”

Philippa Graty, Corporate fundraiser for St Giles said the hospice was grateful for the support from NEC Graph-fix.

“We simply couldn’t do the work we do in caring for people in the local community without the support of companies like NEC Graph-fix,” she said.

“It’s great to work with the team and we’re delighted they have chosen St Giles as a partner for their anniversary year.”
