Chris Evans, Deputy Managing Director of Northamptonshire-based engineering consultancy Rolton Group, presented a cheque for £6,175 to the team at Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) in Leamington Spa.
Chris raised the money by competing in the Rolex Fastnet Challenge in August. Considered one of the most arduous classic offshore races on the international sailing calendar, Chris completed the 600-nautical-mile challenge in an impressive 4 days and 13 hours.
The Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) at Leamington Spa Hospital, offers neuro rehabilitation to adults following acquired brain injury. Peter Rolton, Chairman of Rolton Group, has witnessed first-hand the excellent care given by CERU to his son following a car accident last year – a misfortune that hit close to home for Chris, whose son also suffered a serious head injury that resulted in a bleed on the brain in a footballing accident four years ago.
