On 5th September 2025, a team from Alliance Leisure embarked on the gruelling Peak Pursuit walk organised by the Public Sector Challenge.
This was a demanding 26-mile trek across the majestic landscapes of the Peak District, starting and finishing in Hope Valley. Against the backdrop of Mam Tor, Back Tor, Lose Hill, Bamford Edge and Win Hill, the team pressed on – with every step fuelled by a shared sense of purpose.
The Alliance Leisure team’s determination was not only tested by the undulating terrain but also by their goal to make a meaningful impact for charity. Their collective grit and unwavering support raised an incredible £7,500 for charities Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation – adding to the £327k raised so far by the Public Sector Challenge since 2023.
As the final strides carried them across the finish line, the sense of triumph was palpable. Reflecting on the team’s performance, John Leaver, speaking for Alliance Leisure, captured the moment perfectly: “I couldn’t be prouder of our team. Completing the Peak Pursuit was no small feat, and raising £7,500 for charity makes their effort all the more remarkable. On behalf of all the team we’d like to thank our friends, family, colleagues, clients and suppliers for all their support of encouragement and donations.”
John’s words echoed the pride felt by colleagues and friends everywhere – his admiration cast a spotlight not just on the physical achievement but on the spirit of teamwork and giving that powered the challenge.

Organisers of the event have already announced new challenges for 2026, beginning in January with the London Bridge Walk. A new Ultra 5 Peaks challenge will join the calendar in June and won’t be for the feint hearted. And then the September challenge moves down to Shropshire for an “Earth, Mynd and Shire” trek around Church Stretton on Friday 11th September.
