The Ice Cream Alliance hosted its annual prestigious awards ceremony on the 5th of March, a night to showcase the people behind the most loved frozen delights of the nation.
The night not only celebrated gelatos, soft serves and ice cream cakes, but also recognised creations in the refreshing and fruity sorbet category.
This year, ice cream makers across the nation competed to create the perfect passionfruit sorbet. The fruit’s tangy and juicy essence provided the perfect platform for experimentation.
Rising above the competition, Scotland’s G Porrelli & Co Ltd claimed victory with their exquisite take on the tropical classic.
Dario Durante, great-grandson of the original founder Gerardo Porrelli, reflected on the win, stating, “This award is a great achievement, especially in our centenary year. We’re so proud to have won this award.”
For 100 years, G Porrelli & Co Ltd has been producing luxury Italian-style ice cream from its Paisley-based factory, staying true to its traditional family recipes while embracing innovation. Alongside classic flavors, they are renowned for their unique and inventive offerings, including Scottish Tablet, Iron Brew, Turkish Delight, and Italian Mascarpone & Amarena Cherry.
With over 80 years of history, this event is a highlight of the year, known for its rigorous judging process and the recognition of the highest standards and innovations in the ice cream sector.
As a pillar of the dynamic ice cream industry, the Ice Cream Alliance continues to foster innovation and creativity, supporting ice cream makers like G Pottelli & Co Ltd and ensuring a bright and delicious future for everyone.
