Worcester businessman to embark on fifth Moel Siabod Sportif

Nick Baxter

Worcester businessman and former Rugby Union player, Nick Baxter, is set to take part in his fifth Moel Siabod Sportif, raising vital funds for Community Action Nepal.

The charity works with remote communities in the Tsum-Nubri valleys of the Nepalese Himalaya. It delivers education, health and livelihood programmes to help these communities to improve their quality of life, reduce donor dependency and increase their resilience in the face of natural disasters, volatile weather conditions and global health emergencies. It’s a cause very close to the heart of the Baxter Williams CEO and one that he has previously raised over £12,000 for, thanks to previous rides.

The Moel Siabod Sportif is a 106-mile course over Snowdonia, including a 9000ft ascent of England Wales’ highest mountain. The challenge takes place Saturday 2nd July but Baxter and his team will be completing it a week early on 25th June.

Nick said: “Although I double booked the weekend of 2nd July there was no chance I was going to miss this year’s Moel Siabod Sportif. It’s something I look forward to every year and it allows me to show my immense appreciation for Community Action Nepal.

“As an ex pro rugby player, not only am I not built for cycling but I also carry an endless list of old, niggling rugby injuries so you can imagine how tough it can be getting around this challenging course. Having said that, it has been my best training run up since this began so I’m confident myself and team can get the job done.

“The money we raise is multiplied by ten in Nepal and is responsible for providing school and medical buildings alongside nurses that help provide some of the basic medical provisions that we take for granted here in the UK.”
