WiAS launches Luxembourg Chapter, rounding off year of strong growth

Women in Asset Servicing (WiAS), the peer network which empowers women to succeed in the asset servicing sector, today announces the launch of its new chapter in Luxembourg, rounding off a year of strong growth for the network’s 5th anniversary. WiAS is supported by Embark Group (Embark), which is providing the necessary resources to support this expansion.

The Luxembourg chapter will launch via a series of micro-events designed to encourage new members to build their own networks and foster the organic growth of WiAS in the country. Members can now sign up to the Luxembourg chapter’s dedicated mailing list to hear about upcoming events and opportunities: www.wias.co.uk/Luxembourg.

Due to the popularity of WiAS in the UK and its growing impact in the sector, some existing members based in Luxembourg saw value in expanding the group to include its first overseas chapter. This extension to the network will allow WiAS to bring its advocacy and support programming to a wider audience and lays the groundwork for further growth.

In an industry that has been plagued by representation issues, WiAS looks to create a vibrant and influential community, comprised of people from all backgrounds, that can drive meaningful change for women in asset servicing. The network looks to three key benchmarks to achieve success: empowerment, networking, and visibility. It achieves this through a mixture of events, networking and tailored mentoring programmes, all available to its members.

Through championing empowerment, WiAS gives women the opportunity to excel in their careers, progressing through the industry to leadership roles that have long been dominated by men. Its networking programme is helping its one thousand members to build their own peer groups, allowing them to broaden their professional horizons, learn from colleagues and share the principles of WiAS with a wider section of the financial services industry.

In strengthening the visibility of women in the asset servicing sector, WiAS is driving advocacy of greater representation for women at all levels of the industry, from junior roles to senior management and the Luxembourg chapter is the next part of this journey.

Kate Webber, Founder of Women in Asset Servicing commented: “We are delighted by the launch of WiAS in Luxembourg. The network has had a highly successful five years, growing in membership and active engagement across our industry here in the UK.

WiAS in Luxembourg will enable our team to bring the benefits of both virtual and in-person events, tailored to the needs and opportunities of the market in Luxembourg, creating a network within a network. I wish the Luxembourg team every success, they will be fantastic”.

Jackie Leiper, CEO, Embark Group said: “It’s been inspiring to see how fast WiAS has grown in recent years, and it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in the network.

We’re proud of the support we’ve been able to provide to Kate and her team, and we’re looking forward to supporting them as they continue going from strength to strength, championing greater representation for women throughout the sector across Europe.”
