Wade Ceramics pledge support to Armed Forces

Wade Ceramics, leading manufacturer and craftsmen of the British ceramics industry, have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. Pledging their support to the servicemen and women of the country, the Covenant strengthens the company’s position as a champion of the British Armed Forces.

Signing the Covenant is an official vow that demonstrates that the company will do all in its power to ensure that current serving soldiers – whether Regular or Reserve – and army veterans face no discrimination and are treated with true fairness.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Wade is promising that no member of the Armed Forces community faces any form of disadvantage and, in some circumstances, special treatment may be provided – particularly those facing injuries and bereavement.

In October last year, the Armed Forces charity SSAFA conducted a survey which revealed that almost a third of recruiters are reluctant to hire a candidate who has served in the military, with the majority citing concerns over mental health and lacking an understanding of the transferable civilian skills learnt whilst serving.*

Paul Farmer, Managing Director of Wade Ceramics, comments: “I am delighted to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of Wade Ceramics. By recognising those who have performed military duty, we can unite and demonstrate their power of contribution. Wade has always been a company which welcomes the skills of ex-service personnel and actively encourages applications for those looking to re-enter civilian life, as well as supporting and deeply caring for the needs of military families, so it is wonderful to have made this commitment official.”

Wade Ceramics is a Stoke-based manufacturer of high-quality ceramics and porcelain. With over 200 years of history to its name, the company has long used traditional artistry to manufacture ceramic products engrained with craftsmanship. Today establishing a spirits, food, fragrances, and homeware collection to serve a variety of sectors, the company is still manufacturing the original Gluggle Jug jug, captivating users for near to 150 years with its distinctive ‘gluggling’ sound when poured.
