Dr Matee Rajput, the UK’s leading celebrity hair transplant surgeon and Surgical Director of KSL Clinics, has built a £1 million charity hospital in Punjab, Pakistan, as a tribute to his late father, Sana Ullah, who sadly passed away after contracting covid-19 during the pandemic.
The state-of-the-art facility, developed through the Samr Trust organisation, now provides vital healthcare to more than 40,000 people in the surrounding area, many of whom previously lacked access to any medical services.
The Samr Trust organisation is a UK-based charity founded in 2013 by Dr Matee and his brothers. The trust delivers critical projects across Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Uganda, including clean waterfiltration systems, education programs, housing initiatives, medical packages, and now their largest and most ambition project to-date, a full-scale charity hospital providing free, private sector level healthcare.
Known for transforming lives both cosmetically and medically, Dr Rajput has worked with high-profile clients including the likes of Katie Price, Gareth Gates, Joe Swash, Jake Quickenden and Rosie Williams, to name a few. With some of his most famous clients ranging from royalty to premier league footballers – many of which he isn’t able to name.
However, he describes this philanthropic achievement as the most meaningful of his entire career.“This is by far the most important thing I’ve ever done,” he said.
“Hair restoration changes lives in its own way, but this hospital saves them. It’s a legacy project that honours my father and brings life-saving care to people who desperately need it.”
The Samr Trust Hospital includes Pakistan’s first specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre, as well as a maternity ward, ICU, minor operation theatre, emergency services, pharmacy, laboratories, and inpatient care.
It was the final wish of Dr Rajput’s father that his sons continue his mission of helping the underprivileged. It was always his father’s dream to return to the area of Pakistan where he grew up before emigrating to the UK and build a charity hospital like this – and now Dr Matee has made that dream a reality.
His father has been a huge part of the project, with funds from the sale of his UK home used to purchase the land on which the hospital has now been built.
“My father always believed that if you’re in a position to help others, you should,” Dr Rajput said. “When he died, I made a promise that I would carry on his work. I hope this hospital stands as a testament to his values — compassion, dignity, and service.”
He added, “Growing up, I watched my dad give everything he had to help others. He built homes for widows, provided clean water to entire villages, and gave children the chance to go to school. I just wanted to make him proud — and this hospital is my way of saying thank you.”
