UK start up Fastbag embarks on regional roll out of on-demand grocery shopping

UK start up Fastbag, a new player in the on-demand grocery delivery market has just launched in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Fastbag offers fully tracked, on-demand, super-fast grocery deliveries where customers can order branded items at supermarket prices through its easy-to-use dedicated app.

While on demand grocery delivery is available within minutes through companies in London, Fastbag has a unique competitive differentiation. By launching in unexplored market territories, Fastbag has created a scalable business model which can easily be replicated and adjusted for other UK areas. Currently only available in Maidenhead, the company will be expanding to other towns in the next few months.

Fastbag keeps its own stock inventory and operates from its own warehouses and dark stores and its dedicated delivery team means it manages the full customer experience from start to finish. The core team combines the commercial expertise, technical and operational knowledge and experience to enhance the platform on an ongoing basis and develop new features based on customer feedback.

Safak Erkol explains: ‘Unlike our competitors we are focused on launching in smaller towns and cities where there is less density of shops which gives us a unique advantage in that our roll out process can easily be replicated.

‘We also own our tech stack and have a developer team instead of depending on tailored software packages. Owning our tech resources, having our own drivers, local dark stores and stocks helps us manage and lead the full experience with the customer in mind.

‘The AI and machine learning we have implemented for the driver route optimisation lets us track each step, navigate the orders and maintain a good level of service. As we adjust to normality after lockdown, life is likely to be busier than ever, so our aim is to make life easier and revolutionise the way people shop.’
